🌍 Community Spotlight: Meet Blake Berge
Blake took 118 flights in 2025. He was home in California for maybe three months. He asked himself the obvious question... why am I paying rent?
So naturally, he and his wife bought a van, and they’re hitting the road full-time with their dog Juniper!! His story is one I definatley I resonate with and think you will too. That’s why we did a Q&A with Blake & here’s how it went:
Where are you from and what has your travel life looked like? "I'm from Alhambra, California. Travel has always been in my blood. My dad traveled constantly for work, and a lot of my family worked in the airline industry, so it was always around me growing up. Even in college, I'd pull up Skyscanner and find cheap same-day deals just because I was craving adventure.
I remember one time I flew from LA up to Portland and back in between classes just for lunch. We were only there for about an hour. That kind of thing always felt completely normal to me."
What was the moment you decided to actually go for it? "We looked at our 2025 and realized we did 118 flights and were only actually home for about three or four months. So we asked ourselves... why are we paying all this money for a place we're barely in?
But the thing that really sealed it was a conversation with my grandfather. He's about to turn 91. I asked him if he were 30 again, what would he do. He didn't hesitate. He said he'd do it in a heartbeat. And then he said something that stopped me cold. 'Why do you need to come back?' I realized I didn't have an answer. So we put down the deposit."

What’re you most excited about? “The unknown, which is funny because that's also what scares me most. I love adventure, and I hate monotony. I'm not a fly by the seat of my pants person naturally. I'm the guy with the Excel spreadsheet mapping out which train we're taking and when. So letting go of the plan is the real stretch. But I'm so excited about the people we're going to meet.
Most nervous about? “We're giving up a place that is literally a three-minute walk to the beach. What if we don't like it? What if we burn out? But I landed here. I'd rather make it to 80 knowing I tried it and hated it than never have done it and spent the rest of my life wondering if I would have loved it. That's what ripped the band-aid off."
How do you plan to use Pangea on the road? "I love using Pangea to scope out where people have actually been, checking profiles, seeing what spots they've recommended, and adding places to my own list. Real activity from real travelers is so much more useful than a listicle. Community-wise, I'm looking for other digital nomads doing something similar. People who felt like there was more out there before settling down. If that's you, find me on Pangea!"
What's your advice for someone who wants to do something like this but hasn't taken the leap yet? "I was you. Honestly, I still kind of am. There is never a perfect time. I spent so much time looking for someone whose situation matched mine exactly. I never found them. Your life is your own, so you have to go off your gut. Mine kept telling me I wanted more. Where I am now has been incredible, and I'm genuinely grateful for it. But it feels like a trampoline into what's next. And I think what's next is going to be really, really fun."
Blake picks up his van on June 18th. If you're a digital nomad, van lifer, or just someone who relates to his story, connect with him on Pangea. 🚐

🇧🇹 Your sign to finally go to Bhutan
You could save $100 per day by going to Bhutan in 2026 vs. 2027. That adds up quickly when you're talking about a multi-day adventure.
Bhutan is one of the few countries in the world that actually manages tourism on purpose. Every visitor pays a daily Sustainable Development Fee that goes toward environmental and cultural preservation. It's currently $100 USD per day and it's going up to $200 in 2027.
So if you want the math to math in your favor, now is the time to go.
The Extraordinary Travel Festival is organizing trips with Keys to Bhutan both before and after this year's ETF in Thailand, so you can take Bhutan from "wants to go" to "has been" on your Pangea profile.
Here are the options:
🗓️ 5-day trip (Oct 13-17 or Oct 27-31): Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro with the iconic Tiger's Nest hike. Pre or post-ETF dates available. From $2,320.
🗓️ Pre-ETF 10 days (Oct 13-21): A deeper dive in Thimphu, Punakha, Trongsa, Bumthang valley, Phobjikha valley, and Paro. From $3,525.
🗓️ Post-ETF 10 days (Oct 27-Nov 5): Head straight from ETF to catch the tail end of the Jambay Lhakhang festival, one of Bhutan's most celebrated cultural events, then on through Trumshingla Pass, Trongsa, Phobjikha valley, Punakha, and Paro. From $3,525.
All options include return flights from Bangkok, your visa, full board accommodation, museum fees, and the government fee.
See you in Bhutan???

🇵🇷 Outsite Trip Spotlight: Aguadilla, Puerto Rico
For those of you in the chat asking for a Puerto Rico trip... we got you 🤝
Outsite is hosting two weeks in Aguadilla from July 19 to August 2 on Puerto Rico's northwest coast. You'll be steps from the beach, working out of a luxury villa with ocean views, a pool, and fast WiFi.
There's a local community manager, welcome and farewell dinners, weekly yoga, a day trip around the island, and an optional day out to Old San Juan if you want to explore the colorful streets and historic forts.
Sounds like the perfect trip for someone who wants to have a mix of deep work and beachy adventures.
🗺️ A New Way to Explore a City
I love learning about the history of a place when I travel, but I don't always want to plan my whole day around when a walking tour is available.
That's exactly what happened in Cape Town and then again in Tulsa. I missed the tours both times and found myself turning to GPSmyCity instead. It auto-detects which city you're in and lets you download self-guided walking tours on the spot.
It's become one of my favorite ways to get oriented in a new place. You get the history, the context, and it’s perfect for those days when you just want to explore and get to know the place you’re calling home for a bit.
$14.99 gets you an annual subscription with access to walking tours in 600+ cities. There's a free version too, but the ads make the $15 a very easy yes.
✈️ Travel plans & upcoming trips
I’m in NC with the fam!!! They threw me a surprise birthday party when I returned. It was the sweetest thing, so fun catching up with everyone and sharing about my time in Tulsa.
For May, I’ll be around the Durham/Raleigh (and some Charlotte) area for a bit, so if you’re here, respond to this and let’s meet up!

In mid-July, I’m determined to get to a new continent. I’ve never touched Asian soil and with the 2027 wedding calendar filling up, 2026 is THE year to go.
I’m looking for somewhere beachy, a solid community, not constantly monsooning, easy access to grocery, gym, and outdoor activities like hiking. The idea is to have one place as home base for two months with weekend adventures from there.
But I am incredibly indecisive, and it’s completely new territory for me, so I’d love your help. Do you have any recs on colivings, communities, or locations? or colivings you’re curious about and want the inside scoop?
Where should I nomad in Asia?
